Alexander visits Park Tigers Under-9s

12 April 2017

Iron manager Graham Alexander visited and got involved in a training session of Park Tigers Under-9s last week.

The visit came following the success of our Grassroots Day versus Fleetwood Town at the start of March, with an extra 1,000 added to the gate following an offer to bring local junior football teams to Glanford Park.

All teams who attended were entered into a FREE prize draw, with Park Tigers randomly selected in a number generator to receive a visit from the United boss.

Jason Hinsley, manager of the junior side, said: "It was fantastic.

"Graham got involved in the drills that we do and gave us some advice on how to tweak a few bits. The boys had a great time."

Meanwhile, the Iron manager said: "It was a very enjoyable experience and was on the back of a very successful Grassroots Day earlier last month against Fleetwood Town.

"There are a lot of individuals who volunteer in grassroots football and put a lot of hard work into running youth teams, as well as adult teams, so it was good to visit Park Tigers and get involved in one of their training sessions.

"It's important to take notice of local grassroots football as it engages heavily with the community, like we do as a football club. At youth level, it's obviously the start of a potential future footballer's journey to try and become a professional."
