Scunthorpe United can confirm that they will be taking on Enterprise National League North side Buxton FC in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 (7.45pm kick-off).

This fixture will take place at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium, where the Iron will be welcomed by the Bucks for the first time since the 2024-25 season, having played their last encounter at this particular venue against Farlsey Celtic when they were forced to play their home fixtures there.

A fixture familiar to Scunthorpe from their previous spell in the National League North. The last time the Iron met the Bucks was just two weeks prior to our last visit to the stadium, when Andy Butlers’ Scunthorpe side managed to rescue a point in the final minutes of the game. After a first-half strike from Buxton defender Ethan Mann, the Iron would be forced to wait until the games latter stages to tie up the scoreline when Carlton Ubaezuonu smashed the ball home from a matter of yards.

The pre-season friendly will see new signing Luke Brennan immediately come up against his former club, while United will encounter Kian Scales on the opposing side having signed for the Bucks earlier this week.

Ticket news will be confirmed in due course.

Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Louis Jones has penned a new deal with the club that keeps him at the Attis Arena until the end of the 2027-28 campaign.

Coming through the Rovers ranks from the age of 12, Jones made over 50 appearances in all competitions for his boyhood club, with his debut awarded to him by Scunthorpe manager Andy Butler. With several loans helping to further his development over the years, Jones would depart Doncaster in January 2025 to join Dagenham & Redbridge on a short-term deal, where he quickly became the starting goalkeeper for the Daggers until a hamstring injury brought his season to an end.

After originally training with United last pre-season before the unfortunate recurrence of his previous injury, Jones would have to wait until December to join the club permanently to provide competition for Leeds United loanee Rory Mahady.

Upon his official arrival, Jones would have to wait for his opportunity between the Scunthorpe sticks; however, when the chance was finally awarded to him in late February, the 27-year-old would establish himself as United's first-choice goalkeeper for the remainder of the season, more than warranting his new contract in the 16 appearances he made by keeping five clean sheets in that time and making some memorable match winning saves.

Well done, Lou!

Scunthorpe United can confirm that they will facing off Skegness Town in a pre-season friendly in preparation for the 2026-27 season on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 (7pm kick-off).

This match is one of the many multiple pre-season friendlies that the Iron are taking part in, and it will take place at Skegness Town’s home turf at the MKM Stadium (historically known as the Vertigo Stadium), where we will be welcomed by the Lilywhites, who play their football in the United Counties League Premier Division North.

A fixture that has been documented merely a few times during Scunthorpe’s previous pre-season preparations, the last time that the Iron met the Lilywhites would, in fact, come during last season’s pre-season campaign, when Andy Butler’s Scunthorpe side ran out comfortable 3-0 victors courtesy of a trio of goals from Callum Roberts, Declan Howe and trialist Okera Simmonds.
