Former Iron player John Eyre will be the guest speaker in the restaurant when the Iron host Rochdale on Wednesday, March 25th (7.45pm kick-off).
Eyre enjoyed a productive spell at Scunthorpe United during the late 1990s and early 2000s, becoming a key figure in the club’s forward line, winning the Ernie Storey Memorial Trophy in 1997-98. Originally joining on loan from Oldham Athletic, Eyre quickly impressed with his pace, movement, and eye for goal, earning a permanent move.
During his time at Glanford Park, he was a consistent attacking threat and played an important role in Scunthorpe’s promotion-winning campaign in 1998–99, helping the club secure a place in the third tier. Eyre’s knack for scoring crucial goals and linking up effectively with teammates made him a fan favourite.
Overall, his stint with the Iron is remembered fondly as one of the more effective attacking periods of his career, highlighting his value as a reliable and hard-working striker.
