The Iron are back in action with a home fixture against fellow Lincolnshire side Boston
United, as they look to get back to winning ways. Last time out, United were narrowly
defeated 3-2, away from home against promotion-chasing Carlisle. Boston visit
Scunthorpe has three consecutive victories.
In the reverse fixture, there was no winner at The Jakemans Community Stadium. Lennell
John-Lewis opened the scoring, before Cal Roberts rescued a point for Scunthorpe from the
penalty spot, with just over ten minutes to go.
Boston United have had a mixed season so far, sitting in 14th place. The Pilgrims have won
nine, drawn nine, and lost 14 at this stage of the season. After recent form, they will be hoping
they have turned a corner as they start to look up the table.
A player the Iron will have to watch out for is recent addition Tom Cursons, who joined the club from struggling League Two side Harrogate Town in January. Having already scored five goals in the EFL this season, this transfer shocked many but has certainly had the desired effect for the Pilgrims. Brought in to replace the missing goals of John-Lewis, who is out for the remainder of the season, Cursons has scored two goals already.
Three points could push Andy Butler’s side back above Boreham Wood in fourth place, and
above Carlisle in third. A victory for the visitors would help them climb the table getting closer to
the top seven, and build some serious momentum.
