Scunthorpe United can issue a pitch update ahead of this afternoon’s Enterprise National League encounter against Boston United.

With below-freezing temperatures overnight, the frost covers were installed on areas of the pitch to help ensure the game goes ahead, with supporters requested to help us remove them this morning. A big thank you to the group of supporters who came to supplement our ground staff who were a massive help.

In addition to a precautionary pitch inspection on Friday afternoon, a follow-up was conducted on Saturday morning, with the covers suitably preventing a deep frost in the pitch. Coupled with rising temperatures over the course of the morning for the exposed surface frost, it was concluded there continues to be no concerns over today’s game.

Throughout the process, we have remained in close communication with the appointed match referee Richard Aspinall.

We have also been in close communication with our opposition, Boston United, and are aware of their departure times this morning. As such, we ensured we removed covers and checked the pitch early, prior to the team and supporters coaches departing.

As always, we consider as many factors as possible when taking into account the decision-making process, with attempting to prevent the majority of supporters travelling unnecessarily at the forefront of our mind.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Attis Arena this afternoon, with tickets available from our FanBase site.
