Scunthorpe United is delighted to welcome back defender Oli Rose on a permanent transfer from League One side Peterborough United, signing a two-year deal.

Now 19, Rose is a product of the Posh academy and had spent a stint at the Attis Arena last season on loan, impressing in his 12 games with the club en route to promotion from the National League North. United were unbeaten in their first 11 games with Rose within the Iron ranks, as he was thrust straight in to start following his arrival, impressing in a top of the table clash away at Chorley.

During his stay, he provided three assists in the wins over Brackley Town, Needham Market, both of which at the Attis Arena, and away at Alfreton Town, before his loan spell was abruptly halted in the second half away at Kidderminster as he suffered an innocuous injury, which resulted in him returning to Peterborough, and missing the remainder of the campaign.

While with Posh, the versatile defender has appeared in a handful of first-team games and impressed their fans over the course of the summer when he appeared in four of the Cambridgeshire club’s pre-season matches.

After being a key figure in the Peterborough Under-18’s side that lifted the Professional Development League Cup in 2023, Rose would spend time on a work experience loan with Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Corby Town and would go on to thrive at Steel Park making 11 appearances.

Rose takes the number two jersey, and becomes the Iron's ninth recruit of the summer.
