Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the six-month loan signing of versatile attacker Billy Chadwick from fellow National League side York City.

At the age of 25, Chadwick is vastly experienced at the level with more than 80 appearances across spells with a number of National League clubs. After starting his career in academy ranks of Hull City, the attacking midfielder enjoyed several loan spells away from the MKM stadium with the likes of Gainsborough Trinity and Halifax Town where he established himself as a consistent performer for both sides.

Following an impressive, yet short, spell on loan with Northern Irish outfit Linfield, Chadwick would go on to enjoy his most prolific spell in men’s football when he linked up with then National League North side Boston United. Capable of operating off either flank the locally born Billy would tear up the level at Step 2, scoring 11 goals in just 20 games as he helped the Pilgrims push towards the play-offs.

This spell would earn Chadwick a permanent transfer to Stockport County where he would be immediately shipped out on loan to National League Gateshead where he spent the first half of the 2023-24 season before signing with the Minstermen in the January of the campaign. In his year-and-a-half with York, he would make 39 appearances for City and was a consistent starter for Adam Hinshelwood’s promotion chasing side last campaign.

Welcome to the Iron, Billy!
