Scunthorpe United announced Stuart McCall as the club’s first team manager in August 2018.
He enjoyed a long, successful playing career, rising to prominence at Bradford between 1982 and 1988. He went on to play for Everton in the top flight between 1988 and 1991 before a seven-year spell at Rangers, where he won numerous trophies and made around 200 league appearances.
He returned to Bradford in 1998 and helped them get promoted to and then survive in the Premier League. McCall finished his playing career with a three-year spell at Sheffield United between 2002 and 2005. He also earned 40 senior caps for Scotland from 1990 to 1998.
His managerial and coaching career began at Bradford, where he was assistant manager and then caretaker manager during his second spell at Valley Parade as a player in 2000. McCall then went on to coach at Sheffield United while as a player and after retiring. He then returned to the Bantams again as manager between 2007 and 2010.
A four-year spell as boss of Motherwell followed, leading the Scottish Premiership club to their highest ever league finish and achieving Champions League football for the first time in their history, before he took over at Rangers in 2015.
McCall then returned to Bradford again in 2016, guiding them to the League One play-off final in 2017, before departing the club in early 2018.
