A summer 2013 comeback represented Paul Musselwhite’s third return to Glanford Park.

He began his playing career with Portsmouth before first joining Scunthorpe in 1988, playing 132 games in four years at the club.

He later played over 300 games in an eight year spell at Port Vale before signing for Hull City and returned to United in 2004.

He was first choice between the sticks during the 2004-05 League Two promotion winning season and eventually departed Glanford Park for a second time in the summer of 2006.

After that, he turned out for a number of non-league clubs before making his first steps as a goalkeeping coach at Lincoln City.

He later signed for York City as a player-goalkeeping coach and kept a clean sheet on his debut for the club in a 1-0 away win over Cambridge in April 2002 at the age of 43.

He left York in March 2013 and finished the season as goalkeeping coach at Bury before taking up his current role at Scunthorpe in June 2013.
