Scunthorpe United has been asked to host the Lincolnshire FA County Sunday Cup Final, which will take place on Sunday, April 12th (10.30am kick-off) between local side Ashby FC and Ruston United.
The trophy, which is currently with Humberston FC after they beat Black Beauty in last year's final, will once again be played at the home of the Iron.
Coincidentally, last year's final was played out again in Round One of this season's competition, with Humberston edging the tie 1-0 on the day.
For Ashby, they received a bye in Round One before overcoming The Trawl (6-1) in Round Two. The third round saw them beat Old Clee Sewell (3-1) before advancing past Metheringham (3-0). The quarter-final saw them see off the holders (3-1) before triumphing over Nettleham in the semi-final (4-1).
Meanwhile Ruston United, based in Lincoln, also had a bye in the first round before beating Jolly Brewer (3-1) in Round Two. Next they overcame Ruston Sports (4-0) before a convincing win over AFC Saxilby (6-2). They also brushed aside Sands Cleethorpes and Grimsby Charity (6-1) before a quarter final win over the Crown Inn (4-0). Their semi-final opponents, Hykeham Town, would take them all the way to penalties after a draw after 90 minutes (1-1), with the side winning 4-3 on penalties.
Tickets are for the Threadgold Stand only, with Turnstiles 8A and 8B open for the game. Supporters will be permitted to sit anywhere within that half of the stand, finishing where the dugouts commence. Pay on the day will be available, but it will be CARD only and it is advised that supporters buy in advance as prices do rise on matchday.
All spectators will be able to make use of the MKM Executive Lounge for refreshments, while a catering point will also be open for food.
