Back in league action this afternoon, a Lincolnshire derby away at Boston United awaits us, as the Iron search for a third consecutive win.

Last time out the Iron made it two wins in two, with a victory in the FA Cup. Hosting a
difficult King’s Lynn Town side looking to cause an upset, the first half wasn’t easy and
saw Scunthorpe enter half time 2-0 down due to goals from Gold Omotayo and Ross
Crane inside the opening half hour. United got the first goal back from Ty
Sellars-Fleming in the 61st minute before a goal from Branden Hornton in the 78th minute
got both sides back on level terms. Carlton Ubaezuonu popped up with the winner in the
86th minute to complete an epic comeback, and then Cal Roberts sealed the match in
added time to make it 4-2 and confirm the Iron’s name in a Round 1 Proper tie against
League One Blackpool.

After a heavy defeat in the FA Cup and just one victory from their last five, opponents Boston
United will be hoping to get back to building some form and consistency, starting with this derby
game against Andy Butler’s inform side. Looking to improve their home form with seven points
picked up from a possible 18, experienced bagsman Lenell John-Lewis will be looking to make
his mark against the Iron to turn his sides form.

The 36 year old joined in the summer after leaving York where he made 147 appearances over
four seasons, and he has made a good start to life in Lincolnshire. With six goals scored this
season from 17 appearances, John-Lewis is Boston’s top scorer and certainly one to look out
for on Saturday.

Cal Roberts got back to goal scoring ways against Morecambe and his second half
performance, capped off with a goal at the end, inspired a superb comeback in the FA Cup last
time out. Roberts will be a threat as he looks to continue his form. As United go into this game
one point behind third and second place, and just two points off top spot, three points would be
crucial in bolstering the United’s promotion hopes whilst continuing the good run of form.
