Our Operations Manager and Safety Officer, Martin Hopper, delivers a message in advance of the Promotion Final...
My role on match days is to oversee the safety and security at the Attis Arena, and that includes players, officials, supporters and staff.
The match on Sunday is a great opportunity for both sets of supporters to attend the game, and we expect the stadium to be full and the atmosphere to be electric.
We have done everything to can to make as many seats available as possible, as we know the importance of the game to our local communities.
At this point I would like to recognise how well behaved the supporters have been at the Attis Arena this season. We have had the occasional incident, or issues caused by a minority but overall, the supporters, home and away have been amazing.
As we approach the promotion final on Sunday, we urge all supporters to continue this excellent behaviour and represent the club with pride. There are two key points to raise.
- We would like to remind supporters the importance of NOT going onto the pitch at any time during the final.
- The players will be taken off the pitch and will not come back out until the pitch is clear.
- The presentations will not commence or continue until safe to do so for all involved. - Please do not bring pyrotechnics such as flares or smoke bombs into the stadium
- We have had people injured having been hit by pyrotechnics within the stadium
- There have been occasions of people suffering smoke inhalation and becoming unwell
The issues above could result in disciplinary action against the club such as a fine, along with the reputational damage this causes.
Anyone identified as being involved in poor conduct at the promotion final will be subject to investigation. This may result in action been taken such as a club ban, and missing some of, or the whole of next season. Serious matters will be referred to Humberside Police who will be present supporting the event.
I hope all those attending have a great day, come and enjoy the occasion but please be sensible and don’t do anything to put yourself or others at risk.
Up the Iron!
