After a 2-0 victory over Alfreton on Tuesday, the Iron are looking to get another massive three points against a struggling Farsley Celtic side dreaming of a first win in 2025.
Last time out, the Iron travelled to Alfreton in midweek and got the three points. Carlton Ubaezuonu opened the scoring in the first half, before Kian Scales doubled United’s lead to wrap up the three points in the 68th minute.
In the reverse fixture against Farsley Celtic, Scunthorpe won emphatically at the Attis Arena. United went into half time three goals to the good, Danny Whitehall and Cal Roberts both scoring inside the first 20 minutes before Sam Fishburn netted the third of the day just before the interval. Whitehall grabbed his second in the 70th minute, before Max Brogan and Will Evans both got on the scoresheet in the last five minutes. Andy Butler will be hoping his side can put out a similar performance away from home, and build more momentum as we approach the business end of the season.
Our opponents have lost their last nine and are on a run of 14 games without a victory (12 losses, two draws), as they sit bottom of the league Farsley are desperate for a surprise turn in form if they still hope to stay in the division, having been in National League North for six consecutive years. Since Farsley have been groundsharing with Buxton, they are yet to get a home win having played 14 games at the stadium 70 miles away from their location, they have lost 11 and drawn three.
Farsley’s struggles has seen them have the worst defensive record in the league with a massive 83 goals conceded, they have also scored the least goals in the league as well with just 30 goals scored in their 37 league games. In their last 810 minutes of football, Farsley have scored just three goals and conceded 31. The Celts have really struggled in their "home" fixtures and have earned 77% of their points away from home, with just six points from their 26 points all season picked up from their 17 home games.
As Scunthorpe go into this clash looking to maintain their spot at the top of the league table, three points are important at this stage of the season. The Iron unbeaten in their last 12, face an out of form Farsley side who look to be out of confidence, desperate for a suprise result.
