Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm defender Oliver Rose will remain with the Iron until the end of the season, as his loan from Peterborough United is extended.
The 18-year-old has played every single minute of action since joining the club in mid-January, impressing from the off. He made his debut in the side's 2-2 draw at Chorley, and has so far made a total of seven appearances for the club, contributing to the Iron's unbeaten run which includes five wins and two draws.
A product of the Posh academy, he had been a consistent starter for both the Peterborough United Under-21’s and Under-18’s sides prior to his loan. The versatile defender has also appeared in a handful of first-team games and impressed Posh fans over the course of the summer when he appeared in four of the Cambridgeshire club’s pre-season matches.
After being a key figure in the Peterborough Under-18’s side that lifted the Professional Development League Cup in 2023, Rose would spend time on a work experience loan with Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Corby Town and would go on to thrive at Steel Park making 11 appearances.
Rose's initial 28 day stay at the Attis Arena has been a success, leading to a continuation of his deal until the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign, inclusive of the dates of the play-offs should the Iron qualify. The nature of the extension holds a clause in which Oli can be recalled at 24 hours notice.
Scunthorpe United would like to thank Peterborough United for their continued support in allowing Oli to remain with us on loan.
