Preview: Spennymoor Town (H)

24 October 2023

The Iron are back in action this evening, hosting Spennymoor Town under the lights at Glanford Park (7.45pm kick-off).

United's last game at home was over a fortnight ago when the side beat Brackley Town 1-0 in front of over 5,000 spectators at Glanford Park.

Meanwhile, the side will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at the weekend at Chester.

IRON TEAM NEWS

United’s once long list of players confined to the treatment table is slowly but surely shortening, with numerous players coming ever closer to being in contention for Jimmy Dean’s playing squad.

Both Jason Law and Michael Clunan are available for selection, further strengthening Dean’s pool of players, while Maxim Kouogun draws ever closer to peak fitness and is expected to make a return to action within the coming weeks.

During Saturday’s 2-0 loss against Chester Danny Elliott was forced to leave the field of play with a foot injury that following an x-ray appears to be not as a severe as first anticipated as he hopes to be back in contention for Saturday’s fixture against Bishop's Stortford.

THE OPPOSITION

Spennymoor Town come into the game off the back of a postponement against Boston United at the weekend, with the side sitting in third place following a positive start to the season.

The Moors are a strong outfit in this division, and have only lost to Tamworth, Blyth Spartans and Brackley Town so far this season. Despite their strong start to the campaign, they have only taken five points out of a possible 18 from top-half teams.
