To begin, Wilson spoke about last weekend's defeat to high-flying Woking. He said: “I thought it was a tough game, they made it scrappy, and we didn’t cope well with that. We’ve looked back on the game, and we’re just trying to forget about it and move on to this Saturday where hopefully we can put things right and get a win.”
He then spoke about how the team have trained this week following the result, adding: “We sat down as a team and had a look together at the goals we’ve conceded. Now we’re just trying to improve to make it better ahead of this Saturday.”
The Iron were in high spirits following a 3-0 win against Maidenhead the previous week, and Wilson spoke about the ‘sucker punch’ that the defeat to Woking brought. He said: “Winning that game 3-0 gave the players and the fans confidence, so to concede early on against Woking was a sucker punch for everyone. We tried to get back into it, hence why they scored the second towards the end, but we will just try and forget about that now and move on to the next game.”
He continued to speak about Maidenhead, a game where he featured heavily in what went right for the Iron, adding: “I was very happy with my contributions in that game. I started the first goal, laying it off to Jacob (Butterfield), who set up (Caolan) Lavery for the goal, then I got the assist for the second one, and as for the third, I just watched - it was certainly nice to watch!”
The attacker has featured prominently for the Iron in recent weeks, much to his delight. He added: “It’s been very good. After the Chesterfield game I was tired because that was my first proper run out this season, and then my first 90 minutes came against Maidenhead followed by Woking, so it’s been good to play a full game.”
He was then asked if he feels a pressure from featuring more regularly in the line-up. Wilson added: “There’s not that much pressure, I just want to keep going out and performing the way I am, impressing the fans, and hopefully scoring and assisting as much as I can to help the team get wins. The fans are seeing what I’m all about, but I think there’s definitely more to come.”
Finally, Wilson spoke about this Saturday's trip to Solihull. He said: “It would be excellent if we went there and got a win. Obviously, we haven’t had an away win in over a year now and as players we just want to get it under the belt. We want it to be better for the fans who are travelling. It’s another tough test and obviously last time out (against Solihull in August) we took a three goal lead, before we messed it up and lost it. Hopefully, if we get that chance again, we can hold it out and get the win.”
