Daniel looks ahead to FC Halifax Town encounter

24 January 2023

Iron defender Colin Daniel has reflected on the week gone by and previewed Wednesday night's trip to take on FC Halifax Town in the National League.

To begin, Colin spoke about Saturday’s postponed match against Solihull Moors, saying: “It was frustrating not to travel to Solihull on Saturday, but we’ve had a good few days training this week and we’re ready to go on Wednesday. The game will get rearranged so we will just refresh what we did last week and take it into the game when it is played.”

The postponement did allow for the lads to recharge ahead of Wednesdays match, and the defender spoke about this. He said: “We’ve had really good days training on Monday and Tuesday and we’re prepared for Halifax. Hopefully, we can get a win on Wednesday.”

On the opposition, Daniel said: “They’re a good team, they were last year and they are this year. The pitch isn’t the greatest so we will just have to play the conditions and work as hard as we can to get that away win we need.”

The game will be shown live on BT Sport, and Colin was asked if this adds an extra spice to the game. He said: “It might do for some of the players, but for myself it’s just another game really. It’s not like I play in front of cameras every week, but it’s just another game and hopefully we can get the three points.”

The last time the Iron were on TV was back in August, when the team defeated Yeovil, and the defender reminisced on that day.

He said: “That’s the game that sticks in my mind, it was a good atmosphere with the fans on the first day of the season, and obviously we got a win. Hopefully, we can take that in to tomorrow, get a win, and push on from there.”

Daniel has featured prominently in recent weeks, and he reflected on this run in the starting line up. He said: “I’m happy to be helping the team out whether that’s playing left back or higher up the pitch. I’m just happy to play as many games as I can this year.”

He finished by speaking about the prospect of playing higher up the pitch: “I enjoy playing up front and I look forward to it as it means I can get more involved. If the manager wants me to play up front then I’m happy to do so.”
