IRON TEAM NEWS

Both Gerry McDonagh and Sean Shields have stepped up their return to training this week, with manager Jimmy Dean confirming in his pre-match press conference that both are an option for the trip to North Wales.

McDonagh missed out at the weekend as a precaution, while Shields missed the early part of training last week due to a knock.

Marcus Carver (groin) continues to miss out.

THE OPPOSITION

Following on from the Iron’s trip in December for Isuzu FA Trophy action, where the Iron lost 3-1 in the third round, Wrexham were knocked out in the fourth round away at Altrincham on penalties.

Wrexham’s faultless home form which saw them win every league game since April 15th, 2022 was ended last week after just short of a year (305 days).

Woking’s arrival at the Racecourse Ground on Valentine’s Day saw no love spared, with Rhys Browne netting a 73rd minute penalty for Woking to take a point from the title chasers.

The Red Dragons returned to winning ways on Saturday however, edging out Aldershot late on via a 96th minute winner from Sam Dalby away at The EBB Stadium.

Phil Parkinson’s men currently sit second in the Vanarama National League having played 31 games, accumulating 23 wins, six draws and only two losses so far this season.

Top scorer Paul Mullin has scored 24 times in 31 league appearances, whilst Ollie Palmer has 14 in the same number of appearances at present.
