But it was no surprise when Graham grabbed his ninth goal of the season from twelve yards soon after.
However, Scunthorpe were back in control by the interval, thanks to two glaring defensive errors.
Martin Carruthers grabbed the equaliser when he capitalised on Reuben Hazell's mistake and goalkeeper Jamie Attwell dropped Peter Beagrie's cross for Steve Torpey to pounce minutes later.
Scunthorpe dominated the second half and Jamie McCombe added a stunning third shortly after the restart.
Torpey then went on to complete his hat-trick with two goals in the final eight minutes.
