Report: Chesterfield U19s 0-6 Iron U18s

16 July 2022

The Iron's Under-18 side were 6-0 winners in a pre-season friendly at Chesterfield Under-19s.

Josh Robertson opened the scoring on two minutes after an excellent cross from Charlie Burden-Whittleton.

Another good run and cross from the same player saw striker Harrison Poulter receive the ball with his back to goal in the box, and a quick turn saw the ball nestle in the bottom corner to make it 2-0 on 13 minutes.
Nat Wallace made a driving run in to the Chesterfield penalty area and was brought down after 26 minutes, the resulting penalty was fired home by Poulter for his second of the game.
On the half hour mark an excellent free kick from Charlie Strouther was headed in to the corner by Poulter for a 30 minute hat-trick and to put the Iron 4-0 up at the break.

Nine changes at half time saw the Under-16s introduced and as a group they performed really well and stretched the score line to 5-0 on the hour.

Lucas Dickinson put in an excellent cross, from which Grayson Giles acrobatically found the top corner with a well executed overhead kick.
The Iron rounded off the scoring on 75 minutes when Shay Larkin was brought down and he got up to confidently put the penalty away. Academy manager Tony Daws said: "It was a very pleasing performance in many ways. The boys are working really hard to take on board the information we are giving to them, our level of performance today was very good which in turn creates the scoreline. Well done to all of our players today."
