United enter the match looking to give further game time to the players after three behind-closed-doors against Middlesbrough U23s, Huddersfield Town U23s and Leeds United U23s so far.
After signing this week, on-loan goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst could line up against his parent club, while defenders Andrew Boyce and Kgosi Ntlhe could make their second home debuts after re-signing for the club this summer. Also in line to make their Glanford Park bow in Iron colours are midfielder Elliott Whitehouse and the versatile Colin Daniel.
First team manager Keith Hill has also said there could potentially be further trialists making an appearance against the Blades.
Managed by Paul Heckingbottom, our visitors come into the match gearing up for a season where they will be looking to better last term's achievement of reaching the Championship play-off semi-finals, where they were knocked out by eventual winners Nottingham Forest.
It should be a strong Blades side coming to North Lincolnshire, as we play them for the first time since February 2017 when Paddy Madden scored in a 1-1 draw at Bramall Lane.
Amongst their ranks is of course legendary former Iron striker Billy Sharp, ex-loan midfielder Oliver Norwood and former manager Stuart McCall, who is assistant boss.
The referee for the game is Tom Nield, with Wayne Grunnill and Steve Wade the assistants. The fourth official will be Ryan Coulson.
