Following Saturday's 3-2 home win over Championship promotion hopefuls Sheffield United, the Iron play their second home pre-season friendly on Tuesday night when Rochdale visit (7.30pm kick-off).

Scunthorpe were victorious at the weekend thanks to a brace from Colin Daniel and Alfie Beestin's effort, and will be looking to build on the fitness gathered so far during pre-season and the positive aspects from the games so far.

The visit of the Dale is United's fifth game of preparation for the 2022-23 National League season and could well see Jacob Butterfield appear once again. The experienced midfielder impressed as a trialist on Saturday and subsequently became our sixth signing of the summer on Monday.

Kgosi Ntlhe and Jordan Hallam missed the weekend's game as a precaution with slight knocks and were set to be assessed prior to tonight.

The Iron will wear this season's third shirt for the game.

Managed by Robbie Stockdale, the visitors come into the game after a summer that has seen plenty of ins and outs at Spotland as they look to push on following last season's 18th placed finish in League Two.

Amongst the new additions is Dale legend Ian Henderson, who signed last week after leaving Salford City this summer. He is just four goals away from breaking the Rochdale all-time record.

Elsewhere, they also added further experience this summer in the form of goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell, defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell and midfielder Toumani Diagouraga.

The referee for the game is Garreth Rhodes, with Hristo Karaivanov and Jack Forder the assistants. The fourth official will be Ryan Boult.
