Preview: Maidenhead United (A)

12 August 2022

The Iron return to action this Saturday when they travel down to Berkshire to take on Maidenhead, in what will be the team's second outing of the new season in the National League (3:00pm kick off).

United beat Yeovil 2-1 last week, with the game televised live on BT Sport. Goals from Andrew Boyce and Jacob Butterfield sealed the all important three points, and Keith Hill’s squad will look to emulate a similar positive result this weekend.

Iron team news

Kgosi Ntlhe has been described today by manager Keith Hill as ‘getting better’. Hill also said that he was hopeful to get the defender on the training pitch before the weekend, but that he didn’t want to rush his return as it’s a long season.

Jordan Hallam (hamstring) will miss the game.

One or two players have been reported as having 'a bit of scar tissue' left over from Saturday and will be assessed, however the rest of the squad will be available for selection.

The opposition

Maidenhead United will be looking to build on last season's 17th-placed finished in the National League. Nevertheless, they started their new campaign off with a 3-0 loss at Notts County’s Meadow Lane last weekend. Ex-England international Alan Devonshire is the man in charge - he’s managed the team since 2015.

The officials

The referee will be Robert Massey-Ellis, with Daniel Robinson and Harley Mckittrick as assistant referees. The fourth official is Jamie Conde.

Matchday details

Limited numbers of their match programme will be available for purchase inside the ground. Sell-outs of the programme are not uncommon so to avoid disappointment they do run a pre-order service which went offline on Thursday morning prior to the match. The match will be segregated for visiting supporters, all of whom should enter via the Bell Street entrance to the ground.
