Having links inside the club directly to supporters is paramount to how we adapt and develop, with views taken on board and considered going forward.
This season the club have implemented a number of requests and ideas that have arisen, such as the marquee, live music outside before the game and having external food companies available. This also stems to a Family Zone inside the ground, and general feedback about the matchday experience too.
See below to learn more about the three individuals in their positions and decide which is the most relevant for you to contact with your message or feedback.
FAN ELECTED DIRECTOR
Neil Wright - fandirector@scunthorpe-united.co.uk
Elected in March 2022, lifelong Iron fan Neil joined as the Fan-Elected Director, which comes following a voting procedure involving the Iron's various supporters’ groups.
He represents the supporters’ groups at board level, to build and sustain a credible and beneficial relationship between United and our supporter base, ensuring the views, interest and aspirations of supporters’ group members and the wider fan base are taken into account.
A further aim is to develop the communication between the Board and supporters, sharing as much information as possible with the supporters’ groups and the wider fan base.
Neil is more than happy to ask questions to Board level on behalf of the supporters where it is possible to do so and always actively looks to speak with supporters' groups prior to a game kicking off.
SUPPORTER LIAISON OFFICER (CLUB STAFF - SLO)
James Moody - slo@scunthorpe-united.co.uk / james.moody@scunthorpe-united.co.uk
A supporter of the Iron and a former season ticket holder since 2004 before joining the club as a Media Assistant in 2013, James is the club’s designated Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO).
SLOs act as a bridge between football clubs and supporters, while providing a two-way flow of information on key issues. At the Iron, we want supporters to have the best possible matchday experience, so the slo@scunthorpe-united.co.uk channel is used to gauge feedback, which then is forwarded onto the relevant departments.
James also manages the Ticket Office, along with his Media and PA duties, and is also the club’s Player Liaison Officer (PLO) and Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) so can access various areas of the club to help any supporter with their query.
FAN LIAISON OFFICER (NON-CLUB STAFF - FLO)
Julie Taylor - fans@scunthorpe-united.co.uk
Invited to be Fans’ Liaison Officer following her amazing volunteering work during the summer, Julie remains as a season ticket holder and long-time supporter of the football club and will be sat in the stands cheering the team on, just like everyone else.
This makes Julie’s position unique for this role in that she can perhaps liaise with supporters who don’t want to come directly to the club, or for anyone that wishes to remain anonymous to the club.
Julie will continue to see things from a fans’ perspective and will not hold back with her views and criticisms, but equally will feed back the positive feedback she receives. We would actively encourage supporters to liaise with Julie as she looks to make a difference in her new role.
