We continue a feature where we get to know the Iron's current intake of academy scholars, continuing with second year midfielder Ben Franklin.

Date of birth: 17/06/2004.

Place of birth: Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Position: Central midfield.

What school did you go to? Gosforth Academy.

What was the first team you played for? Kingston Park.

Do you have a nickname? Franko.

How were you spotted by Scunthorpe? It was a coach's recommendation.

How long have you been at the club for?
I’m currently in my second year.

Who has been the biggest influence on you since joining the club? Tony Daws.

What are your strengths as a player? Work ethic and attitude.

If you could improve one part of your game, what would it be? Making more of an impact in games.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given? You get out what you put in.

What boots do you wear? Adidas Predators.

Are you any good at any other sports? Swimming and athletics.

What other non-footballing sports people do you admire? David Goggins.

Who are your best friends in football? My teammates.

What is the best goal you've ever scored and could you describe it? A goal against Leeds United in the Super Cup NI. It was a great moment for me scoring the equaliser against a top club in such a prestigious competition.

Who do you think is the best player in the world in your position? Ngolo Kante.

Which player did you look up to as a kid? Steven Gerrard.

What is the most memorable match you have played in and why? ESFA National Cup - it was a surreal moment for me as a young kid to win a National Trophy at St Andrew’s Stadium.

Tell us something about yourself we might not know. I went to the same school as Alan Shearer.
