SCENE-SETTER...

United enter the match after arresting a run of five straight defeats to claim a goalless draw away at Bradford City last time out, accumulating the point they needed to mathematically clinch League Two survival with one game to spare.

Southend United won their match at Barrow last weekend and would have taken the drama down to the final day had Scunthorpe lost against the Bantams, but the side can go into the game against the Boro with no threat of relegation out of the EFL.

The Iron can finish the campaign as high as 20th in the division, but they'd have to win and hope that Barrow and Colchester United both failed to take points in their final game to do so.

TEAM NEWS...

Emmanuel Onariase will miss out, needing surgery following a calf issue.

Jordan Clarke will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury picked up at Forest Green three weeks ago, which forced him to withdraw after 20 minutes.

Harrison McGahey returned to the starting XI at Forest Green and missed out against Mansfield, Walsall, Newport and Bradford through a quad issue, which will continue to be assessed.

Left-back Junior Brown is out with a hamstring injury that forced him off against Bradford and attacker Jordan Hallam is out with the hamstring problem which he suffered against Oldham in March. Elsewhere, Olufela Olomola's season is over after he suffered a medial ligament injury.

Striker Aaron Jarvis (hamstring), midfielder George Hornshaw and goalkeeper Adam Kelsey (both ankle) will also miss the rest of the campaign.

THE OPPOSITION...

Stevenage are 15th with 57 points and could climb a couple of places if they claimed maximum points on Saturday. They come into the game off the back of a 3-3 draw against Crawley Town which was preceded by four successive defeats.

The side are winless in six, with the four defeats in a row all by an odd goal, three of which finishing 1-0.

Goalkeeping Jamie Cumming tops their starting appearance charts with 40 to his name, playing for 3600 minutes this season. Elliot List has a total of 43 appearances in the league this season, but only 35 of those are starts, equating to 3014 minutes.

List is also the side's top goalscorer with eight goals this season, while Luke Norris is second with seven.

PAST MEETINGS...

The Boro equalled the historical standings between the two sides at the turn of the calendar year by beating the Iron 3-1 at the Lamex Stadium in January.

Devarn Green had put United in front before the hosts hit back to make it two wins, two draws and two defeats from six meetings.

United drew the last meeting at the Sands Venue Stadium in November 2019. The meeting ended goalless, while Mark Duffy scored the winner in the only victory on home soil, which came in February 2013.
