Iron defensive duo Jai Rowe and Mason O'Malley both took time out this afternoon to answer questions from a number of local school children.
As part of Study United's Reading Stars programme, the pair both took to Zoom to answer questions on reading, their interests and their careers from students at Westwoodside Church of England Primary Academy and Leys Farm on Tuesday afternoon.
Now in its fifth year, the Scunthorpe United Reading Stars scheme has used pupils’ passion for football to spark an interest in reading for pleasure in more than 750 young people.
Five schools attended the online launch event on Friday, April 30th, a day in which the young learners were joined virtually by Tom Palmer, the award-winning author of the Football Academy and Foul Play series.
The involvement of the Iron players is the second part of the programme which will continue in the coming weeks during the last part of the spring term and into the summer term.
