Former academy coach to embark on the 'Tour de Tony' in latest charity fundraiser

24 May 2021

Scunthorpe United is proud to be supporting our former Academy Youth Development Phase Coach Tony Mee, as he embarks on the ‘Tour de Tony’s Former Clubs’ next month, in aid of the Huntington’s Disease Association.

Like many others across the globe, charities have been hit hard during the Covid-19 pandemic and they need our help more than ever.

Tony’s wife was sadly diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2013 and he has been raising money for the foundation ever since, amassing over £3040 in this year alone, a staggering 150% over his original target of £2021.

He will be cycling to and from each of his former clubs that he has worked for since leaving the army in 2002, in order to raise some much-needed funds for HDA. Tony worked for the Iron during 2016.

Now Lead Youth Development Coach at Doncaster Rovers, he will be cycling from Keepmoat Stadium to Rotherham's AESSEAL New York Stadium on Monday 7th June before visiting the Iron's Sands Venue Stadium and York City on the 9th and 11th June respectively in what he is calling the ‘Tour De Tony’s Former Clubs’.

If you would like to support Tony for this hugely important cause, please donate to his GoFundMe page HERE.
