Defender Jai Rowe spoke to iFollow Iron after the disappointment of losing 2-0 at home to promotion-chasing Exeter City.

The 19-year-old has made 16 appearances so far this season, and has started the last two matches against Salford City and the Grecians.

Speaking to iFollow Iron, the right-back said: “Exeter was a difficult game right from the start. I think we need to work harder in our individual battles, win the second balls and turn them for longer than we did. They were more solid than us overall.

“They’re a good team. When we played them early on in the season they were solid and have some good leaders out there. They stuck to their game plan better than we did on the night.

"These games happen but we need to keep going and focus on the next match. We’ll come into training on Thursday and go about our business as we have done in past games."

The Iron next play Leyton Orient away on Saturday and, with just one defeat in the last four away games, Rowe's going there with confidence.

He said: “We’ve been doing well on the road, so hopefully we can go there and keep our away form up and pick up a result, which we know we are capable of.

"We go again on Saturday and we're going to show the fans that it does mean a lot to us, and we'll do everything we can to get a result.”

On a personal note, speaking about his number of appearances recently, he said: “I’ve been buzzing, but it’s not about me as a player. I’m happy with how many appearances I’ve had this season, but we need to work hard as a team, keep climbing the table and pick up results and as many wins as we can.

“We will do what we can to bounce back on Saturday. We will work hard, stick to our game plan and hopefully pick up a result.”
