The Iron play their third home game in the space of a week when Bradford City visit the Sands Venue Stadium for a rearranged fixture on Tuesday night (7pm kick-off).
SCENE-SETTER...
The match against the Bantams was originally set to be played in January but was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
After a huge effort by ground and club staff to get the rearranged fixture on in February, the snow started falling heavily soon after kick-off and the game was abandoned on the half hour mark on the grounds of player safety.
It should be third time lucky in terms of the game getting played this time, and Neil Cox's side will be seeking a first home win in five attempts, which could potentially take United up to 16th in League Two.
Alfie Beestin scored a last-gasp leveller to earn the ten man Scunthorpe a point against Southend United at the weekend, and subsequently keep us 11 points above the 23rd-placed Shrimpers in the relegation zone.
It was the second levelling goal scored late on in a home game to earn a point as Jordan Hallam levelled in stoppage time against Oldham Athletic last Tuesday.
After drawing just two games prior this season, United have now drawn 1-1 in four out of their last five.
The game against the Bantams will be the 10th game in the space of 31 days, but Cox's side can look forward to a ten day gap before returning to action against Crawley Town on Good Friday.
TEAM NEWS...
Defender Jordan Clarke will be available after his red card against Southend United was overturned following an appeal.
First team manager Neil Cox says there are a few knocks elsewhere in the side which means there might be changes to freshen up the team.
Attacker Jordan Hallam (hamstring) will miss the game and the club are waiting for a report from a specialist, though it looks like he could be out for a while.
Centre-back Harrison McGahey faces around three-to-four weeks out with a thigh problem, while fellow defender George Taft continues to be out with an ankle injury, though has started running on the training pitch again and manager Neil Cox says he could return to action before the season finishes.
Emmanuel Onariase continues to miss out with a groin problem but has returned to training this week and will continue to be assessed. He may return to the matchday squad, but a late decision will be made.
Striker Aaron Jarvis (hamstring) has had a fresh setback and could miss the rest of the season, while fellow forward Olufela Olomola is back training following a knee injury sustained after coming off the bench against Bolton Wanderers in November, but Cox says he needs to practice match game time to get match fitness up first. He played 80 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game against Doncaster a fortnight back.
Midfielder George Hornshaw and goalkeeper Adam Kelsey are both expected to be out for a couple of months following ankle surgery.
THE OPPOSITION...
12th-placed Bradford could potentially move up to tenth placed with victory, and will be seeking a first win in five games.
They drew 0-0 at home to Oldham Athletic at the weekend, following defeats on the road at promotion-chasing Newport County and Carlisle United.
Prior to that spell they'd won five in a row and interim bosses Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars were appointed as joint managers of the club until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
They took over following the departure of ex-Iron boss Stuart McCall and sparked a big turnaround in form, with just one defeat in 15 matches before the recent Newport game.
There are some former Iron men amongst their ranks, with midfielder Levi Sutton making 27 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring twice.
Striker Lee Novak has scored six goals in 13 league starts, topping their scorer charts, but hasn't played since the end of December, due to a minor knee operation.
Centre-back Niall Canavan has played ten games since signing from Plymouth in January, while ex-academy forward Charles Vernam has played the same number of matches, scoring twice.
Defender Connor Wood has made 34 appearances so far this season, topping their appearance charts.
PAST MEETINGS...
The two sides managed to meet twice last season, with both games resulting in draws. Jamie Ward scored a penalty in the last meeting at the Sands Venue Stadium, with the Iron playing over 75 minutes with ten men following the early dismissal of Matthew Lund.
At Valley Parade, the last time the two sides met, United conceded twice in two minutes inside the opening 20 minutes to go 2-0 down, but goals from Alex Gilliead and John McAtee rescued a point.
