Benjamin Speedie will take charge of the Iron's trip to Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The Merseyside-based official will travel to the Breyer Group Stadium for his 25th game of the season and his 12th game in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is his first as an EFL match official.

His first game of the seasn was an EFL Trophy match on September 1st at Brunton Park between Carlisle United and Fleetwood Town. The Cod Army won the game 3-1, with two cautions and one red card shown. The dismissal was shown to the Cumbrians' Gime Toure, who also scored, on the advice of the assistant referee for an alleged kick-out.

Meanwhile, his latest appointment saw him oversee the Sky Bet League One match between Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers in midweek which ended 1-0 to the home side. He issued five cautions on the night.

His first-ever EFL league match came at the Sands Venue Stadium earlier in the season, when he took charge of United's season-opener against Newport County which finished 1-1. On the day, two cautions were shown, one to Lewis Spence and the other to Ryan Loft.

He's yet to officiate in a competitive match involving the O's.

Last season, he took charge of a total of 12 matches in the National League, and one in the FA Cup, showing 34 yellow cards and one red.

So far in this campaign, he's issued 72 yellow cards and four reds in his 24 matches to date.

On Saturday, Ben will be assisted by Andy Bennett and Daniel Cook, while Lee Swabey will assume the role of fourth official.
