The Iron will be looking to continue their impressive recent run and make it four league wins in a row for the first time since January 2019 when they host Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
SCENE-SETTER...
Scunthorpe come into the fixture having not played a game in just over a week, following a run of three matches in the space of six days that yielded three victories and three clean sheets.
The most recent of those was a 1-0 success at Colchester United which took them up to 14th in the League Two table at the time. A number of games have been played elsewhere in the division since then and we now sit 16th, although another success over the Latics could potentially bring us up to 11th in the table this weekend.
THE OPPOSITION...
The Latics sit 13th in the division and have the second best away form in League Two so will certainly be a threat at the weekend, though a Scunthorpe win would see overtake them in the table.
Manager Harry Kewell saw his team defeat Salford City 2-1 at home last weekend with strikes from Dylan Bahamboula and Davis Keillor-Dunn. Meanwhile, they also recently saw off Newport County 3-2 at home through Keillor-Dunn, former Iron Bobby Grant and an own goal.
Attacker Grant is amongst the former United men in their squad, joined by former goalkeeper Ian Lawlor (who tops their appearance tables with 24 league starts), defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and forward Conor McAleny. All four have been mainstays in the side.
The latter of those players tops their scorer charts with 12 strikes to his name, while Bahamboula is also one to watch with seven assists and three goals.
TEAM NEWS...
Jem Karacan (arm) will miss the game after coming off against Colchester United last Friday, but his injury isn't as bad as first feared following a scan earlier in the week and manager Neil Cox is optimistic he might be in contention for the Bradford City home and Morecambe away fixtures next week.
Jordan Clarke (thigh) has missed the last two matches and was ruled out for a month by Cox last week.
Harrison McGahey and Kevin van Veen (both hamstring) have had a full week of training and will be assessed prior to this weekend's match, while Aaron Jarvis (also hamstring) continues to be missing for a total of 10 weeks.
Fin Shrimpton (ankle) is also back on grass, along with Andy Dales (ankle), as they both work their way back to fitness.
Olufela Olomola is still out following a knee injury sustained after coming off the bench against Bolton Wanderers in November.
PAST MEETINGS...
Jacob Bedeau and Kevin van Veen struck the goals as we won 2-0 away at Boundary Park back in November.
The two sides drew 2-2 in this corresponding fixture last season, as Matthew Lund and van Veen scored with the team coming from behind to claim a point.
