The Bury St Edmunds-based official will referee the two sides in what will be his 19th game of the season and eighth in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is Pollard's second in the EFL following his promotion to the National List of Referees ahead of the 2019-20 season following two campaigns on the National League.

He was officiating on both the National League and the Premier League 2 competitions in 2018-19, but made the step up to the EFL after 11 years of refereeing.

His first game of his second campaign in the league came in the Carabao Cup as he oversaw the 1-0 victory for Gillingham over Southend United in which he issued five yellow cards and one red. Meanwhile his latest game came on Tuesday when he made it through an EFL league match without cards for the very first time as he took charge of Burton Albion's away win at Charlton Athletic.

He's shown a total of seven red cards this season, with four of them coming in pairs. He's dismissed two players since he last took charge of Scunthorpe eight weeks ago.

Incidentally, Pollard actually took charge of this corresponding fixture last season, among the three times he's refereed the Iron as John McAtee scored an early winner. The latest match he took charge of involving Scunthorpe was at the start of the year in a defeat at Stevenage, while his previous two games have seen United pick up four points at home. The draw against Crawley in August 2019 did see Rory Watson save a late penalty to preserve a point. Across the three games, he's issued 11 cautions.

Meanwhile, he's been involved in two Cheltenham games, both of which last season. In addition to the one against the Iron, he also oversaw their goalless draw at Grimsby Town. In total, across both matches, he issued five yellow cards.

Last season, he took charge of a total of 23 matches, showing 73 yellow cards and two reds. So far this season, in 18 games, he's shown 64 yellows and seven reds.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Richard Woodward and Wayne Grunnill, while Lisa Rashid will assume the role of fourth official.
