Anthony Backhouse will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away Sky Bet League Two clash against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.
The Cumbria-based official will travel to the University of Bolton Stadium for his 23rd game of the campaign and his ninth in Sky Bet League Two. The current season is Backhouse's fourth as an EFL official.
He's refereed the Iron on six previous occasions, with half of those coming on home soil. The first of those games was a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in which he showed no cards, while he also took charge of our last game of last season prior to lockdown, sending off Levi Sutton against Grimsby Town. This season, he was the referee when we lost 2-0 at Tranmere Rovers in October, where he showed four yellow cards.
Meanwhile, he's been in charge of games involving Bolton on two past occasions, most recently for the Papa John's Trophy home defeat to Crewe Alexandra back in September, booking four players. Last season he refereed their 7-1 loss at Accrington Stanley, showing two yellow cards and one red.
This season he has officiated 22 games, showing 71 yellow cards and two reds. In 2019-20, he took charge of 27 games, issuing 89 yellow cards and four reds. Meanwhile, in four games so far this season, he's shown 14 yellow cards and one red.
On Tuesday, Backhouse will be assisted by Richard Wigglesworth and Matthew Bristow, while Conor Brown has been appointed as the fourth official.
