Season ticket statement

14 April 2021

As we look ahead to the 2021/22 season, we hope that all of our fans are safe and well. Everyone at the club would like to thank all of you who have supported the club in any way, be that with season tickets, iFollow, sponsorships, merchandise or positive support - it’s all helped us get through this last year.

An entire season without fans has understandably had a catastrophic impact on the finances of most clubs that have had to navigate over 12 months with minimal staffing levels and significant adjustments to normal operations. We must continue to build on the work that started pre-pandemic to re-set the finances of Scunthorpe United to sustainable levels, to enable the club to be in a healthier financial position in the long-term. The impact of the pandemic has only reinforced how important this is.

As we launch the season tickets for next season, we offer a reduced renewal price to those season ticket holders that renewed in 2020/21 in response to the feedback received from the Supporters Survey carried out earlier on in the spring, and following our meeting with representatives from supporter groups in January.

We have also taken the difficult decision to no longer produce a matchday programme. Following feedback from the Supporter Survey, again, combined with the resources available, it is no longer viable. Instead, 12th Man members will see that the offering for season tickets this season includes some additional new items that we believe will offer an increased value to all, including fans' names who supported during the pandemic on the third shirt. More details on this will be coming soon.

Finally, we understand that there is still some uncertainty with regards the start of the season and again this was one of the themes from the Supporter Survey. Therefore, the club will pledge to refund a pro-rata amount of the season ticket price to any season ticket holder requesting this in the event that there are league games that have restricted capacity resulting in some or all season ticket holders not being able to attend. Please see the information available for more details on this.

------------------------

In what has been a very difficult and demanding time for all football clubs, Scunthorpe United continue to work toward a long-term sustainable model, to ensure the club can continue to offer the community a local football league club.

The landscape is very different from the risk-free spending of recent years and what we need to do is establish the club as a conduit for young players, to develop and hone their skills for a future in the game. We also want to give opportunities where possible to players who have missed out, for one reason or another, on an early breakthrough into professional football.

I want to thank every fan for putting their hand in their pocket and supporting the club over the past 12 months and would ask for that to continue into the next season. The club has a small base of fans and we really do need you to buy those season tickets for the coming season.

We have endeavoured to help by discounting some tickets and working on offers for fans, but I am sure we will not get this right for everyone. We ask for your patience, understanding and continued support as we recover and adjust to a form of normality when fans return to stadiums.
