Anthony Backhouse will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away Sky Bet League Two clash against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
The Cumbrian-based official will travel to Prenton Park for his fifth game of the campaign and his first in Sky Bet League Two. The current season is Backhouse's fourth as an EFL official.
Of his four games so far this season, two have come in the Carabao Cup, one has come in the EFL Trophy and one has come in Sky Bet League One.
He's refereed the Iron on five previous occasions, with three of those coming on home soil. The first of those games was a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in which he showed no cards, while he also took charge of our last game of last season prior to lockdown, sending off Levi Sutton against Grimsby Town.
Meanwhile, he's been in charge of games involving Tranmere on seven past occasions, most recently the opening day of the 2019-20 season. Rovers have won one, drawn two and lost four of those games with 25 yellow cards and one red being shown. Five of the seven games have been at Prenton Park, so Saturday will be his sixth visit as the man in the middle.
In 2019-20, he took charge of 27 games, issuing 89 yellow cards and four reds. Meanwhile, in four games so far this season, he's shown 14 yellow cards and one red.
On Saturday, Backhouse will be assisted by Hristo Karaivanov and Christopher Husband, while Billy Smallwood has been appointed as the fourth official.
