FA fans choir come together this Saturday

20 May 2020

Featuring Iron fan Vicky White, the FA Fans Choir have reunited at a social distance online to encourage the country to sing Abide With Me on the day of the FA Cup Final (May 23rd) at 5.30pm, which would have been kick-off time.

"Abide With Me has been sung at every final since 1927 except during the war so we thought we could not let it pass this year even if there is no football," said an FA spokesperson.

"Please feel free to share as it would be good to get everyone singing and to raise a bit of money for care workers along the way."

The choir have reunited at a social distance online to create a Nationwide Call to sing the time-honoured traditional anthem ‘Abide With Me’ on FA Cup Final Day, Saturday May 23rd at 17.30, the kick-off time all under #AbideWithMeNHS.

“We’re all footy mad and missing our singing," said Dave Gilhooley, who has compiled the video from Fans Choir Members Contributions from all over the country.

It’s a chance for fans all over the country to sing your footy socks off on your doorstep for the game that you love, the NHS and Volunteers that have sacrificed so much on our behalf.

A Just Giving page has been set up, the aim being to raise money for the NHS/Keyworkers' families decimated by losing a loved one to the dreadful C-19 disease - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fafanschoirnhs.

The video can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/urT6Tdv12n8 and on Twitter #AbideWithMeNHS

Join the #AbideWithMeNHS singalong on FA Cup Final day, Saturday, May 23rd at 17.30!
