JIC Feature Fan: Archie Eldred-Dobbs

5 June 2020

We look back through our featured Junior Iron Club members this season, with each selected participant answering questions for the matchday programme before getting an opportunity to interview an Iron player.

Archie was our 13th member to get the chance to take part, with the then-seven-year-old featured in the new-look Junior Iron Mini Mag for our younger supporters. He also got the opportunity to interview midfielder Yann Songo'o, asking him his choice of questions.

This interview was featured in our programme when we faced Newport County back in January.

Here's his interview, plus Yann's answers...

What's been the best part of being a JIC member? The best part of being in the group is being entered into draws to win prizes such as this one.

How long have you been supporting the Iron? I have been supporting the Iron for six years.

Tell us about your first game. I can’t really remember my first game as I was only a baby.

Tell us about your favourite game. My favourite game was when we played Swindon Town at home and beat them 6-0.

Who is your favourite Scunthorpe United player of all time? My favourite player of all time is Luke Daniels.

Who do you come to games with? I come with my mum, dad and sister Rubie-Mae.

Do you play football and if so, who for and what position do you play? Yes, I play football as a goalkeeper for Scotter Hotshots Under-7s.

Which game has been your favourite so far this season? My favourite game this season, so far, was against Exeter City because we won 3-1.

Archie interviews Yann Songo’o…

How old was you when you first started playing football? I was four-years-old when I first started playing football.

When was the first time you scored a goal? When I was playing in the MLS with Orlando, I scored against Colorado.

How many goals have you scored in your career? I think I’ve scored eight.

Did you always want to be a footballer? Yes. Football was all I knew when I was growing up. Both my dad and my brother were footballers, so yes, I always wanted to be a footballer.

What do you want to do when you stop playing football? I will probably work in the family business when I finish playing football.
