The Iron will be looking to get one step closer to Wembley when they face Portsmouth in the Leasing.com Trophy quarter-finals on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
SCENE-SETTER
Scunthorpe put in one of their best performances of the season so far to come from behind in the league against Bradford City at the weekend, drawing 2-2 through goals from Alex Gilliead and John McAtee.
Paul Hurst’s side got through a group consisting of Leicester City Under-21s, Sunderland and Grimsby Town before seeing off Blackpool and Manchester City Under-21s in the knockout stages of this competition.
Now in the last eight, they travel to face a Portsmouth side who won the tournament last season and presently sit seventh in League One, one place outside the play-offs.
Pompey were 1-0 winners at Bolton in League One at the weekend, and got through a group comprising of Norwich City Under-21s, Oxford United and Crawley Town before defeating Northampton Town and Walsall in the knockout stages of the Leasing.com Trophy.

Striker Lee Novak will be eligible to play with his current suspension only including league games.
Elsewhere, Regan Slater (ankle) also continues to be out for at least a further month following an operation.
PAST MEETINGS
Our last visit to Fratton Park came in League One last March, when two late goals sealed a 2-0 win for Pompey.
The last time the Iron won away at Portsmouth was in November 2013 in League Two, when Dave Syers netted a brace to secure the comeback and the three points, after Pompey had taken an early lead.
