Jordan Gabriel is excited about the prospect of playing for United, after the right-back completed a loan move from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old is hoping to make his debut in Saturday’s League Two home encounter against Crewe Alexandra, and has enjoyed his time at the Sands Venue Stadium so far, having started training with his new team-mates on Wednesday.

He told iFollow Iron: “It’s a great opportunity and I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. It will be a great experience and the lads have welcomed me with open arms. The gaffer, staff and everyone have been really good.

“It’s been good (to have been here a few days), and it’s been useful to get an idea of what the lads are like and what the tempo’s like. I’ve been impressed and I can’t wait to get involved.”

Talking about his season for Nottingham Forest so far, which has seen the defender impress for the Under-23s and also make his debut senior appearance in the Carabao Cup at Arsenal, he continued: “We started the season well and then I made my debut for Forest against Arsenal, which was a massive high. I then got an injury that I wasn’t happy about, but I came back stronger and now I’m here, which is a massive high as well, and I can’t wait to start.

“I just want to be out playing football and doing the thing I love. I can’t wait to play. I can’t wait to see the fans and get stuck in."

Talking about his style of play and hopes for while in North Lincolnshire, he said: “I get up and down, and like to defend. I’m a defender, so I have to do that first and then help out with the attacks. I like to get stuck in as well. I’m going to take it by the scruff of the neck and push on.”

He continued: “Forest have told me to just enjoy it. Ryan Yates came out on loan here and did well, while some of the lads in the Under-23s have gone out on loan to other teams and are doing well, so it’s my time now and it’s time to excel.”

Talking about former Iron loanee Yates, he said: “He’s a great pro to look up at, and I want to emulate him by coming here and doing well, and then hopefully in the future get an opportunity with Forest.”
