The Iron's Under-18 side return to Youth Alliance League action for the first time since October 19th as they host Burton Albion at Baysgarth School, DN18 6AE (12.30pm kick-off).

In the meantime, the side have played just twice, winning both of the opening rounds of their FA Youth Cup campaign.

SCENE-SETTER

The Iron edged past Notts County 1-0 after extra time in Round One before making progress once again against Morpeth Town (2-1) in midweek. They will look forward to a trip to face West Bromwich Albion in the third round.

Harry Jessop got both goals in midweek to put United in what looked a commanding 2-0 lead at the interval. The visitors came back with a double substitution at the break and one of those players got a goal back to set up a very nervy finish with the Highwaymen continually knocking on the Iron door.

Aside from those two fixtures, the Iron haven't played in four weeks in the EFL competitions, with four fixtures across the Youth Alliance League and Cup all falling victim to the weather.

Burton Albion Under-18s come into the fixture off the back of being knocked out of the FA Youth Cup on penalties in midweek.

After leading in the tie at the Pirelli Stadium against Bolton Wanderers, the young side were pegged back in normal time, with the score subsequently finishing 1-1 after 120 minutes. The penalty shoot-out which followed, saw the side eliminated.

In EFL competitions, Burton enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town last Friday in the Youth Alliance Cup. Previous to that, they had drawn 2-2 with Accrington Stanley in the same competition.

The Brewers come into the fixture second bottom with seven points from a possible 24, with only Grimsby Town below them on goal difference. The Iron are third with 15 points from their seven games, although with two games in hand on Doncaster Rovers at the top and three on Mansfield Town in second. Maximum points from those games would see the side comfortably top.

TEAM NEWS

Both sides come into the encounter with less than three days recovery, with the Iron buoyed by progression in the FA Youth Cup and the Brewers suffering from shoot-out heartache. United will be eager to continue their winning run and stretch it to five straight wins in all competitions.

Joey Dawson, who came off with a calf injury in the Round One tie against Notts County returned to the side to complete 90 minutes in midweek. Two-goal Harry Jessop was forced off in midweek after battling for his hat-trick and will be assessed ahead of the latest clash.

Central defender Oliver Kemp missed the midweek cup tie through injury, with Fin Shrimpton - who was skipper on the night - dropping back into that role. Kemp will be assessed ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ben Crosher remains sidelined through injury.
