United returned to winning ways on Tuesday night, putting in an impressive performance to defeat Walsall 2-1 away and Cox is looking to build on that against Alex Revell's 23rd-placed side, who themselves will be seeking to close a six point gap on the Iron.

Cox said: "I think it's going to be a tough game. They've just won 1-0 at home to Cambridge, who are a good side. They had a couple of games postponed (due to Covid-19) which enabled them to galvanise themselves. As always though, it's about us. We've just had a great result away at Walsall and we have to be positive in what we do. We might have to change some bodies due to injuries, but we go there looking to get the three points.

"I'm sure it will be a tough game for us but at the end of the day we need to pick some points up. We have 26 cup finals to go and we want to get three points every time - that's our attitude, but we have to defend well and counter-attack well like we have in some of the away matches during the last couple of months.

"We'll get the players in on Friday, see who's fresh and raring to go, and put the team together looking to pick the three points up."

Cox provided an update on Myles Hippolyte, who picked up an injury at Walsall in midweek, plus strikers Ryan Loft and Aaron Jarvis, who were forced off during the game.

He said: "Myles had a bad ankle, and will miss out, while Lofty is 50/50, as he's had an impact injury on his hip. We're waiting for the results on a hamstring scan for Jarvo, while Jordy Hallam has a sore thigh and will miss out. We've called a couple of the young boys into the squad and will look at it on Friday, seeing who's fit to travel and we'll pick a side from that."

He also updated on Harrison McGahey (hamstring), Emmanuel Onariase (ankle), Kevin van Veen (hamstring), Olufela Olomola (knee) and Junior Brown (thigh).

Cox said: "Harrison and Manny look like they'll be back at the end of January. Harrison has done some running but no ball work yet so is a little bit off, while Manny has started jogging after badly bruising his ankle against Mansfield.

"Kev had a break and went back home (to the Netherlands) and is now self-isolating (as a result of coming back into the country), but we'll look at him when he returns next week. I'm sure it'll be more the end of February when he returns.

"Fela is still in the gym and is a little bit tender, and I think he will be back at the end of February too."

"Junior Brown is a month ahead of schedule and is one we have to careful with as we need him fit for the rest of the season. Hopefully he might be able to come into the squad in the next couple of weeks."
