Journalist Max Bell recently approached the Club on Monday 17th August 2020 to ask if the Club Shop would stock and sell copies of his forthcoming book “Scunthorpe United F.C. 20 Legends”.
The Club agreed to Mr Bell’s request and were pleased to be able to support local enterprise, particularly where the subject matter was the rich history of Scunthorpe United Football Club.
Subsequent to the Club’s agreement with Mr Bell to stock and sell his book, Mr Bell, for reasons unknown to the Club, took to social media platforms and online newspaper platform to publish false information and offensive comments about the Club and its Chairman, Peter Swann.
The Club cannot and will not be seen to endorse or turn a blind eye to the use of any online medium for the purposes of abusing, harassing or negatively impacting upon others.
As a consequence of Mr Bell’s behaviour, the Club took the decision to withdraw its offer to stock and sell Mr Bell’s book.
