The Iron return to League Two action with an away clash at Walsall on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
SCENE-SETTER
The Iron come into the match having earned four points from their last two league games. Putting in a strong performance, United came from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night, levelling through goals from Matthew Lund and Kevin van Veen. It built on the 3-0 home win over Morecambe the previous weekend.
Walsall arrive in the match sitting 20th in the division following a 1-0 win at Morecambe on Tuesday night, which was secured through Stuart Sinclair’s goal. That provided them with their first win since the start of the season.
Victory for Paul Hurst's Scunthorpe would see them close the gap in the league table on the Saddlers.
TEAM NEWS
Iron manager Paul Hurst labelled forward Jamie Proctor as a doubt going into the game, with the Rotherham United loanee set to be assessed ahead of the game.
Proctor banged his knee in the warm-up ahead of Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Oldham Athletic at the Sands Venue Stadium and, despite completing the full game, may not travel to the Banks's Stadium.
The game will come too soon for skipper Andy Butler as he sits out once more with an ankle injury, although the defender has been back on the training pitch. The situation is similar for striker Lee Novak as he edges nearer to a return.
Andy Dales (hamstring) and Levi Sutton (medial ligaments) both got their first minutes in midweek in a behind-closed-doors encounter as they stepped up their returns. The duo aren't yet available for selection for the first team, though.
Elsewhere, Ryan Colclough returned to the side and was a used substitute in midweek following a groin injury which sidelined him for the Morecambe game last weekend.
OPPOSITION VIEW
Saddlers boss Darrell Clarke said: "We're not getting carried away to be honest. Nothing changes really, we're disappointed with our points return, it's nice to get a win but we're looking for that consistency, with results. Wins for managers last about 30 seconds, even after the game. There were no high-fives and all of that after the game. While the lads got a 20 second pat on the back, the rest of the talk was about making sure we back it up on Saturday.
"All managers need time. There are so many experts now in the world where managers don't get that time, you don't need to prove anything to anybody, he (Paul Hurst) has gone in with a squad full of players already there so it will probably take two or three windows to make that football club right, a similar scenario here.
"It doesn't happen overnight, there are no quick fixes out there. They'll be pleased that they've got a couple results now and they'll be moving in that direction, I certainly see them nowhere near the bottom of the table when the end of the season comes."
PAST MEETINGS
The Iron were 2-1 victors at Walsall last January, with Funso Ojo and Lee Novak sealing a fourth win in succession for Stuart McCall's team.
