The Iron return to league action on Saturday as they travel to the One Call Stadium to face Mansfield Town in Sky Bet League Two (kick-off 3pm).
SCENE-SETTER
United will be looking to build on their first victory of the season in midweek as they beat local rivals Grimsby Town 2-1 at Blundell Park in the Leasing.com Trophy. Kevin van Veen got both of the Iron's goals in the encounter.
Mansfield Town weren't in action in midweek having played their cup encounter against Everton Under-21s a week early, so they come into the game off the back of a slender 1-0 defeat at Exeter City last weekend. Ryan Sweeney was also dismissed in the encounter, although that red card has been appealed and since rescinded.
TEAM NEWS
Paul Hurst is hoping to have captain Andy Butler back available for the encounter with the Stags after missing out in midweek.
The former Doncaster Rovers defender came off last weekend with a foot injury, but Hurst is hopeful - after resuming training on Thursday - that he will be in contention for the game.
New signing Jamie Proctor is available for the Iron for the first time this weekend, while James Perch is ineligible to play in the match, serving the third of a three-match suspension incurred for a red card against Cambridge United in the league last month.
Meanwhile, Kgosi Ntlhe (back) and Jordan Hallam (ankle) have recently been added to the injury list which also comprises of Lee Novak (ankle), Lewis Butroid (ankle) and Andy Dales (hamstring) - although the latter three players have all edged closer to a return. Butroid and Dales, in particular, have taken part in some form of training out on the grass and are expected to be integrated back into the group next week, while Novak is ahead of schedule for his return, but still faces a few more weeks on the sidelines.
Elsewhere, Jacob Bedeau was an unused substitute in midweek as he made a first comeback from his pre-season injury, while Clayton Lewis is on international duty with New Zealand.
OPPOSITION VIEW
Speaking ahead of the game, Mansfield Town boss John Dempster said: "We’re going to have to show courage, character and fight (on Saturday against Scunthorpe). We’ll be concentrating on ourselves.
"I have no doubt that Scunthorpe will, over a period of time, will climb League Two. But we have to make sure it’s not Saturday.
"If we show the courage, fight and passion which is within our squad, I’m sure we can get all three points.
"It’s a game that we have to give everything in to get the three points. Saturday is a massive game and we need the supporters behind us."
