Iron midfielder Clayton Lewis won a cap for New Zealand U23s on Friday.
The player was also on target for the Kiwis, scoring with a sweetly struck free-kick in the 71st minute.
With five minutes to go Lewis had a great chance to win the game, but the Australia goalkeeper got a toe on the shot inside the six-yard box to deflect over the bar.
