Under-18s Preview: Lincoln City (H)

11 October 2019

The Iron's Under-18 side return to Youth Alliance League action this Saturday, hosting Lincoln City at Brumby Hall, Appleby-Frodingham (kick-off 10.30am).

SCENE-SETTER

The side head into the encounter off the back of a 2-1 defeat against their Doncaster Rovers counterparts at the home of Winterton Rangers a fortnight ago.

The side put in a first-half display and did take the lead through an exquisite free-kick from Cameron Wilson before the visitors hit back and eventually won the game through a second-half penalty.

The Imps come into the tie following a 5-0 demolition of Huddersfield Town two weeks ago - a side United beat 3-1 last month.

Neither side were in action last weekend, with a point separating both teams. The Iron are in fourth position with nine points from five games, while the Imps sit in sixth with eight points from six games.

TEAM NEWS

A number of the academy scholars will be buoyed after being selected for Russ Wilcox's Under-23s side over his last two encounters.

Cameron Wilson started the Premier League Cup game at the Sands Venue Stadium against West Bromwich Albion last Friday night, while he was an unused substitute at Port Vale on Tuesday. Harry Jessop, who came on against the Baggies, also was used at Vale Park as he found the net in the 3-1 reverse.

Tom Collins was the unused goalkeeper on both occasions, but should return to action at his age level, while Charlie Barks, Harry Baker and Dan Gallimore were also rewarded with a place on the bench for the Under-23s on home soil. The latter was the only one out of the trio to get on the pitch though, as he was given 12 minutes, replacing George Hornshaw.

Joey Dawson returned to the youth line-up last time out following a knee injury, while Raynner Silva also found his way back into the starting XI after his absence through injury.

Elsewhere, Luca Chadli, who had also been missing with an injury, returned to the bench, but was an unused substitute.

LAST LINE-UP: Collins, Baker (c), Lobley, D Gallimore (Kemp, 90), Barks, Shrimpton, Wilson, Dawson, L Gallimore, Jessop, Silva.

SUBS NOT USED: Wilkinson, Chadli.
