Darren Handley will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home Leasing.com Trophy encounter against Sunderland on Tuesday.
The Lancashire-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 14th game of the campaign and his third involvement in this season's Leasing.com Trophy.
His first game of the campaign was Grimsby Town's 2-0 away win at Morecambe on the opening day of the season in which he showed five yellow cards. Meanwhile, his latest encounter came at the weekend in the Emirates FA Cup when Hayes and Yeading met with Oxford United. He showed two yellow cards in the match that ended 2-0 to the away side.
He's taken charge of the Iron on seven previous occasions, five of which have come at the Sands Venue Stadium. United have won three and drawn four of the seven games. In total, he's shown 20 yellow cards and two reds in those games - with both dismissals going to opposition players.
Meanwhile, he's yet to referee a game involving Sunderland competitively, so Tuesday will be his first taking charge of the Black Cats.
In 2018-19, didn't take charge of any games at all, but in 2017-18 he showed 130 yellows and eight reds in 42 games. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 13 encounters, showing 51 yellows and three reds.
On Tuesday, Handley will be assisted by Paul Graham and Anthony Moore, while Daniel Middleton has been appointed as the fourth official.
