Trevor Kettle to referee Bristol Rovers home clash

6 March 2019

Trevor Kettle will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Rutland-based official will travel to Glanford Park for his 34th game of the campaign and 14th in Sky Bet League One. The current campaign is Kettle's sixteenth in the EFL.

His first game of the campaign was Port Vale's 3-0 home win against Cambridge United on the opening day of the season. On that occasion, he showed three yellow cards. Meanwhile, his latest encounter came on February 23rd when he oversaw the 1-1 draw between Colchester United and Carlisle United in Sky Bet League Two. He issued five yellow cards on the day.

He was last appointed to an Iron game back in November when he took charge of the 2-0 away defeat at Southend United. On that occasion, he showed three yellow cards and one red - dismissing Scunthorpe's James Perch for two cautions. In total, he's refereed United on 19 occasions, showing 60 yellow cards and three reds.

Meanwhile, he's refereed Bristol Rovers on 16 occasions, most recently a 3-0 away win against Blackpool back in November. He issued one yellow card in the game. In total, while refereeing the Pirates, he's issued 56 yellow cards and one red card.

He's refereed this fixture at the Memorial Stadium before, with the Iron losing narrowly 1-0 to the Gas over 15 years ago, which was incidentally the first time he took charge of both sides. He showed seven cautions on the day, including yellows to Cliff Byrne, Andy Butler, Terry Barwick, Richard Kell and Steve Torpey.

In 2017-18, he took charge of 37 games, issuing 130 yellow cards and five reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 33 encounters, showing 129 yellows and six red cards.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Geoffrey Liddle and Duncan Street, while Steven Meredith has been appointed as the fourth official.
