Midfielder Yann Songo’o provided his reaction to iFollow Iron after becoming the club’s fifth summer signing, and said how he enjoyed playing for the team for the first time during the pre-season friendly at Guiseley AFC on Saturday.

The Cameroonian played the first 45 minutes as United ran out 2-0 victors at Nethermoor Park through goals from Lee Novak and John McAtee.

He told iFollow Iron: “I really enjoyed it. It was good to get my first 45 minutes and I think it’s a really good group. I felt the performance was outstanding. We managed to get a clean sheet and score two goals too.”

Talking about signing for the club on a one-year contract, the 27-year-old added: “I’m really happy to have completed the move. I had a good conversation with the manager, and I’m excited about the project here.

“I like the way the manager wants to play and the direction he wants to take the team in. I’m a hard worker and will always give 100 per cent.”

Speaking about his time at Plymouth, who he was with for three years and faced Scunthorpe for in some crunch League One clashes, he continued: “I remember playing here when we were both trying to get into the play-offs two seasons ago. Scunthorpe played really well and deserved their win that day.”
